Postponed. MALPÉLO, HK0. In May 2024, the National Amateur Radio Association announced its expedition project for February 2026. The project is postponed due to difficulties obtaining permits and transportation, following new government directives. Oscar HK6O, LCRA Vice President, officially announces that the project is no longer under the auspices of the LCRA, but is now a personal initiative that he is undertaking alone. No one else is authorized to speak on behalf of the LCRA or the project. More information will follow in the newsletter.
ANTARCTICA, KC4. Until March, Andrew is KC4/KL5SE from the Windless Bight, Mt. Newall, and Bull Pass sites, all dependent on MacMurdo Station. He is also sometimes KC4USV from MacMurdo. The Antarctic summer lasts from October to March, and during this time, temperatures become milder, ranging from -2°C to 8°C (28°F to 46°F) in the most visited areas of the Antarctic Peninsula. Sea ice also begins to decrease in October and November, allowing navigation in more areas. QSL via KL5SE.

Ralph K0IR, one of the most renowned and successful "DXpeditioners," has just joined the
team. He has participated in numerous expeditions to inhospitable locations,
including Heard Island, VK0IR in 1994, and many others! He is a member of the "DX Hall of Fame" and has received about ten nominations for the prestigious "Dxpedition of the Year" award.
With almost 100 days to go before arriving on Sable Island, which will be battered by winds and snow at
this time of year, the team is in full preparation and working on the antennas.
MACAU, XX9. From March 19 to 31, the "DX Friends" group is planning another expedition

NAMIBIA, V5. Until March 24, Gunter DK2WH is returning to Omaruru, where he will be V51WH

KURE, KH7K - JOHNSTON, KH3 - MIDWAY, KH4. The Intrepid DX group is awaiting approval from the authorities to continue its project for these three expeditions. Midway Atoll remains closed to the public, as management is focusing on the conservation, security, and preservation of the site, which is a vital sanctuary for birds and marine wildlife. Amateur radio activity requires a compatibility study, but staff are currently focused on essential priorities. The group hopes to obtain access approval.

= ... Since its introduction on October 1, 1907, it has accompanied generations of correspondents, travelers, and collectors around the world. A true universal fiduciary currency, it allows its holder to send an international, unregistered airmail letter between the 192 member countries of the UPU (Universal Postal Union). For nearly 120 years and through 10 successive models, the IRC has embodied the values of universality, fairness, and solidarity upon which the Universal Postal Service is based. On September 17, 2025, at the 28th Universal Postal Congress in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, UPU member countries decided, with the aim of adapting and simplifying universal postal services, to discontinue the issuance of the International Relay Stamp (IRC) as of December 31, 2026. IRCs will remain valid and available for sale and exchange from designated operators in UPU member countries until that date.
This decision is a natural part of the broader transformation of international postal services, in line with digital practices and the modern expectations of their customers. The UPU International Bureau is proud to support this transition and is currently working on integrating the IRC into the UPU's heritage, in accordance with its history and its unique role in global postal cooperation. Finally, to celebrate the IRC's exceptional legacy, a special commemorative product will be launched. Tracing the history of the IRC and offering a unique customer experience,
this product will pay tribute to this iconic chapter in the history of philately and the UPU.
