the 9M8A expedition on Satang Island are planning another expedition to the Spratly Islands.

SOUTH GEORGIA, VP8 (South Georgia). In March 2027, expedition VP0SG will be

led by LA7THA. This is one of the rarest and most sought-after DXCC entities.

… March 2027, VP0SG expedition to South Georgia …

March 2027 will see the departure of the VP0SG expedition initiated by Amateur Radio DXpeditions (ARD), which has just signed the contract to charter the vessel MV Meredian, operated by 60° South Expeditions. The ship is a robust expedition vessel, reinforced for navigation in ice and capable of safely supporting land operations in the demanding subantarctic environment. The company has extensive experience navigating in these regions.

Contacts with the Government of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands (GSGSSI) are progressing, and the team reports: “Our initial proposals have been well received, and our operation is deemed compliant with current guidelines.” Although the official authorization process

is not open until 2026, the GSGSSI is willing to continue its collaboration with us for

the coming months, while we refine our plans. This is a very encouraging step towards

obtaining final landing authorization in 2027. The team currently has 12

confirmed operators, with 2 more expected.

ARD is a non-profit organization dedicated to activating rare DXCC entities with

rigorous expeditions of great interest to the global community. Emphasis is placed

on youth integration, operational excellence, and environmental protection.
