SOUTH ORCADES (South Orkney Islands), VP8, LU_Z. Ramon Alberto is LU1DMZ/Z
until the end of 2026 at station LU1ZA of the Orcadas base, on Laurie Island. IOTA AN-008.
Established in 1904, it is the oldest Antarctic base. In 1927, the first Argentine crew arrived with José Moneta, and the first official radiotelegraph station in Antarctica
was inaugurated. Since 1951, the Orcadas Observatory has been under the authority of the Argentine Navy.

UKRAINE, UR. For his 50th anniversary as a licensed radio operator, Nick US8AR is EM50AR. Also, the two special call signs EM100W and EN100WLKK celebrate the centenary of the Lviv Radio Club, founded in 1926 as Lwowski Klub Krotkofalowcow (LKK). It was one of the most important radio clubs in Europe before World War II.
