and the BBC Radio Club will activate four special calls to mark the final shutdown on June 27, 2026, of the three Long Wave transmitters at Droitwich, Westerglen, and Burghead on 198 kHz, after more than 90 years of broadcasting. served by a regular ferry service. IOTA AS-056 is the 2nd most sought-after island group

in Japan.

JAPAN, JA. From May 22, 2026 to January 29, 2027, a special call 8J70JARE will be broadcast from various locations across the country to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Japan's presence in Antarctica. On November 8, 1956, the "Syowa," the first Japanese ship to explore Antarctica, departed Tokyo.

with 53 crew members, 17 of whom landed on the Ongul Islands on January 29, 1957, to establish the first research station, which was named "Syowa." QSL via JG2MLI.

FRANCE, TM. On May 29/30 and June 5/6, the F4KLR RC of Wingles (department 62, Pas-de-Calais) is

TM62SA in honor of Sophie Adenot KJ5LTN, the second French female astronaut in

the European team.

DENMARK, OZ. From May 29 to 31, then on July 25 and 26, and finally on August 15 and 16, René

DL2JRM will be OV7X from an island in IOTA reference EU-172.

LIECHTENSTEIN, HB0. On May 30/31, during the CQ WPX CW Contest, Bodo DF8DX

and Mischa HB9EMP will be HB0DX.

SAINT KITTS & NEVIS, V4. On May 30/31, David EI7BR and Roger EI8KN will be V49B

in the CQ WPX CW Contest from Saint Kitts.

TONGA, A3. On May 30/31, Oliver W6NV will be A31WW in the CQ CW WPX Contest.

SPAIN, EA. On May 30th and 31st, EG26SOTA will be active from the peaks of Caimodorro, Alto del Tremedal, Peñablanca, Sierra Alta, and Pier of San Juan, near Bronchales, each for 1 to 2 hours.

MARKET REEF, OJ0. From May 30th to June 6th, Juha OH1LEG will be OJ0Z and Markus OH1MN will be OJ0MN. No LoTW or eQSL.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, A6. Until May 31st, a special A60PE call for the National Day.

Individual operators can request a call in the form A60PE/0, 1, /2, /3, etc.

EUROPEAN RUSSIA, UA. Until May 31, the Lost Islands Activity Days are being held by the Russian Robinson Club, dedicated to Polar Exploration Day and the 25th anniversary of the 2001 "High Latitude Arctic Lost Islands" expedition with the call signs RA25LI (Novosibirsk), RN25LI (Norilsk), and RD25LI (Dickson Island). QSL via RZ3EC.

The expedition was dedicated to the explorer Georgy Ushakov on his 100th birthday. The route crossed the isolated islands of the Kara Sea, from where radio transmissions were established. The last island in the Central Arctic, Ushakov Island (IOTA AS-156), was discovered by radio.

WESTERN SAHARA, S0 (S Zero, not S Oscar). Until May 31st, Naama S01A and Azman S01AH are S09S from Tifariti, for the 50th anniversary of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.

They will participate in the CQ WPX CW Contest on May 30th/31st. QSL via ClubLog and LoTW.

BULGARIA, LZ. Until May 31, special call LZ100LZ for the 100th anniversary of the BFRA,

the national amateur radio association, founded in 1926 with 38 members.

GREECE, SV. Until May 31, special call SZ40A for the 40th anniversary of the Western Greece Amateur Radio Association (SZ1A). QSL via ON3UN.

GREECE, SV. Until May 31, special call SX1FLY to celebrate the 243rd anniversary of the first manned hot air balloon flight in 1783 and to pay tribute to the Montgolfier brothers. No QSL cards,

but radio contacts recorded on eQSL, LoTW, and other electronic platforms. ITALY, I. Until May 31, special station 4U29MAY from Brindisi, on the occasion of the

“International Day of UN Peacekeepers” on May 29. This event pays tribute to the UN peacekeepers, police officers, and civilian personnel who have fallen in combat, and highlights the United Nations' “peacekeeping mission.” This counts for

UKRAINE, UR. Call EO80F for the 80th anniversary of the Children's and Youth Palace in Izmail.

BELGIUM, ON. Special call OT26B for the 100th anniversary of SNCB (Belgian National Railway Company). QSL via OR4K. On May 5, 1835, Belgium inaugurated the first railway line on the European continent, between Brussels and Mechelen, a landmark event that made Brussels the first capital city in the world served by rail.

SOUTH ORCADES (South Orkney Islands), VP8, LU_Z. Ramon Alberto is LU1DMZ/Z

until the end of 2026 at station LU1ZA of the "Orcadas" base, on Laurie Island. IOTA AN-008.

Established in 1904, it is the oldest Antarctic base. In 1927, the first Argentine crew arrived with José Moneta, and the first official radiotelegraph station in Antarctica

was inaugurated. Since 1951, the Orcadas Observatory has been under the authority of the Argentine Navy and

constitutes the "South Orkney Naval Detachment."

GERMANY, DL. For the 170th anniversary of Nikola Tesla, the DARC's Ortsverband Mainz DL0MZ section will be DR170TESLA. QSL via DK8ZZ, Club Log.

MALAWI, 7Q. In 2026, and possibly into 2027, Chris ZS6RI is 7Q5C from Karonga,

in the north of the country. He makes 6-month rotations. QSL via LoTW, Club Log.

UKRAINE, UR. For his 50th anniversary as a licensed operator, Nick US8AR is EM50AR. Meanwhile, the two special call signs EM100W and EN100WLKK celebrate the centenary of the Lviv radio club,

founded in 1926 as Lwowski Klub Krotkofalowcow (LKK). It was one of the most important radio clubs in Europe before World War II.

BULGARIA, LZ. The LZ1KCP radio club in Blagovestnik will activate the following special calls:

LZ370TL (May-June), LZ67PP (July-August), LZ936BA (September-October), LZ911TD (November-December)

centennial of the founding of the national radio club.

CANADA, VE. From June 1st to July 31st, the Lhtako Dene radio club will be VC7BBD for the

50th annual "Billy Barker Days" festival in Quesnel, British Columbia.

SWITZERLAND, HB. From June 1st to July 31st, a tribute to Louis Favre, Swiss engineer and builder, on the 200th anniversary of his birth with the special callsign HB200LF.

In 1872, he was awarded the contract for the construction of the first Gotthard railway tunnel,

the longest in the world at the time. QSL via LoTW and ClubLog.

EASTER ISLAND, CE0. Sometime in June, Manu CE3YMR will be 3G0YM from Rapa Nui.

FRANCE, TM. Until June, sometimes Gil F4FET, Gilles F1CWQ, Julien F4HUN and his XYl

Noëlle F4HTL, Jean-Louis F4JHT are TM8DW from Wimereux to commemorate the

first radiotelegraph transmission of March 27, 1899, by Marconi between Wimereux (Pas-de-Calais) and the South Foreland lighthouse in Dover (England). On the English side, the Dover radio club will activate the calls GB2DOVER, GB2SFL, and GB8DW.

/MM - Maritime Mobile. Until June, Patrick is EI9KA/MM, sailing 4,000 km across the South Pacific. He will depart from the Galapagos Islands (HC8) and travel to Rapa Nui, Easter Island (CE0Y). In Chile, he has submitted a request for authorization to transmit from Hanga Roa and Rapa Nui between June 6 and 12. With lightweight and compact equipment, allowing him to transmit from a mountaintop, he will primarily use FT8 on 20 meters. He will upload his traffic logs starting at the end of June upon his return to Ireland.

TANZANIA, 5H. From June 3 to 12, Kasimir DL2SBY will be 5H1KB on the island of Zanzibar, ref. IOTA AF-032, 400 meters from the shore, with a clear 360° view. BALEARIC ISLANDS, EA6. From June 4th to 7th, Jan will be EA6/DL4XT.

RWANDA, 9X. From June 4th to 13th, Alain F8FUA will be 9X5KM from Kigali, with an Elekraft K3S (100W), Hexbeam, dipole, and vertical antennas, and possibly an antenna for 160m.

SPAIN, EA. Until June 7, members of the "Baix Camp" and "Tarragones" sections

of Antoni Gaudí, the Catalan architect, creator of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

during the 50th Polish Antarctic Expedition from the "Henryk Arctowski" station

on King George Island, in the South Shetland Islands.

CW Contest on June 20th/21st.

And after more than 90 years of operation, the three Longwave transmitters at Droitwich, Westerglen, and Burghead will be permanently decommissioned on June 27th, 2026. During this week,

the callsign GB1500M will be on the air in several parts of the United Kingdom, Wales, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Jersey, and Guernsey, and the callsigns GB198LW, GB198END, and GB198KHZ will be active in England and Scotland.

The "Arctic Legends DXpedition" team RT9K (UA9KDF, R3CN, RA8CV, UA6EX, UA1QV, and R8KAM) will activate the following four IOTA references with the following calls: July 4-7 RI1PC from Chaichiy Is. IOTA EU-160, July 12-16 RI0BW from Vize Is. IOTA AS-055, July 18-21 RI0BU from Ugedineniya Is. IOTA AS-057, July 23-26 RI0BI from Isachenko Is. IOTA AS-050. The journey will last

31 days and cover more than 3,500 nautical miles, or 3,500 x 1.852 = 6,482 km

Yota Contest 2026. On July 19th and December 28th, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, the "Youngsters On The Air" event, organized by the IARU Region 1 Youth Working Group and the Hungarian National Amateur Radio Association (MRASZ), will take place. Its aim is to encourage young licensed amateur radio operators to participate in the airwaves. FRENCH POLYNESIA, FO. "Georg Forster" station, the first German Antarctic research base, inaugurated on April 21,

Also until the end of July, for the 50th anniversary of German Antarctic research, special

calls DA0ANT, DM50ANT, DP50ANT. Also until the end of July, DP200GVN for the

bicentenary of the birth of Georg von Neumayer (1826-1909), German geophysicist and

MOLDOVA, ER. From August 1st to 31st, ER35MD for the 35th anniversary of the country's independence.

FRANCE, F, TM. From August 2nd to 9th, for the Women's Tour de France, special call TM21TFR. On August 4th, department 21 (Côte-d'Or) will host the 4th stage from Gevrey-Chambertin to Dijon. NEW CALEDONIA, FK. From April to August, Hervé is FK/F4MER from Nouméa, where he passed the exam last year during a stay in Nouméa. Equipment: IC-718 (100W), multiband vertical antenna with adjustable coil and half-wave wire antenna (40 to 20 meters). He operates between 7.175 and 7.200 kHz, and on 20 and 15 meters in SSB. He is a member of the F4KIS radio club in Lillers, Pas-de-Calais (department 62). BAHAMAS, C6. From August 4 to 10, Eric K9GY will be C6AYM from Grand Bahama Island, Little Bahama Bank Group, IOTA NA-080. He will participate in the WAE DX CW Contest on August 8 and 9. NEW ZEALAND, ZL. Until August 6, special call ZL100C for the centenary of

the National Amateur Radio Association of New Zealand, NZART.

CORSICA, TK. From August 9 to 26, Alexander will be TK/OE5AUH and David will be TK/OE5DDJ while

hiking the GR20 (long-distance hiking trail). From August 22 to 26, they will relax

for a few days at a campsite near Porto-Vecchio before their return flight. Their equipment

will consist of a LAB599, a 10-watt Discovery TX-500 transceiver, and a

4-radial Chelegance MC-750 antenna, powered by a 12V, 6Ah Eremit battery.

ARMENIA, EK. On August 17, a new special call sign, EK0YOTA, will be activated for the December YOTA "Youth On The Air" program. The operators will be EK6ONL, EK6RF, EK6OTK, and EK6OMZ. Direct QSL via address on the Qrz.com page.

NAMIBIA, V5. From August 26 to September 20, Hanspeter will be V5/HB9BFM in Olivia mode, protocol 8/250, on 14.072 kHz between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

ASIAN RUSSIA, RA0. Until August 31, Oleg RD1A is RI0SP in the Arctic, with North Pole-42 Squadron aboard the "Severny Polyus," a drifting research vessel. QSL via RN3RQ.

TANZANIA, 5H. Late August/early September, Eyal 4X1RE will be 5H2RE (SSB), and Dov 4Z4DX will be 5H2DX (CW, FT8), likely from some POTA references.

SPRATLY, 9M0. During the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2026, Marhazli 9M8HAZ and members of the previous 9M8A expedition to Satang Island are planning another expedition to the Spratly Islands. The callsign is not yet known.

GRENADA, J3. From September 1st to 12th, GM5RDX will be J38DX and M6IJU will be J38LD.

EAST KIRIBATI, T32. On September 6th and 7th, Ken KH6QJ will be T32AZ for the All Asia Contest,

TUNISIA, 3V. From October 8 to 12, the 22nd IARU High Speed Telegraphy World Championship will take place in Sousse, a major Mediterranean tourist city. Last year, 125 participants from 14 countries attended.

SOLOMON ISLANDS, H4. From October 9 to 21, Rolando 9A3MR, Zik DK8ZZ, Mladen 9A2NA,

Frane 9A3CJY (17 years old), Kristijan 9A4WY, and Livio 9A7Y will be flying from Honiara, Guadalcanal Island, to pay tribute to 15 years of charitable work by the "Croatian Sisters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul of Buma" on Malaita Island, IOTA OC-047, and to symbolize the ties between the Solomon Islands and Croatia.

NORWAY, LA. On October 10 and 11, René DL2JRM will be flying from SAO TOME & PRINCIPE, S9. From October 17th to 31st, EC7R, D2ACE, CT1BOL, D2IM,

CT1BZG, and CT3MD will be S9R, with 3 stations: the first an ICOM 7300 and Expert 1.3 amplifier,

the second a Yaesu FTDX10 and Acom 1000 amplifier, and the third a Yaesu FT710.

BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS, VP2V. From October 19th to 27th, a team will be active

from Tortola Island, IOTA NA-023, with the call sign VP2VXX and will participate in the CQ WW DX SSB

Contest on October 24th/25th.

SAINT-PIERRE & MIQUELON, FP. From October 21st to 25th, Matthew will be FP/W2MJR in

what he calls a light mobile DX expedition to Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, also ref.

IOTA NA-032 will be participating in the CQ World Wide DX SSB contest on October 24th and 25th. Before the contest, listen to him on the 15m and 20m bands on October 21st between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM UTC, and from POTA PM-0025 on October 22nd and 23rd between 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM UTC. During the contest, he will be operating solo on all bands, at low power and without assistance. Station: Yaesu FT-857D, Tarheel Designs 10-160 Ultra Magnum amplifier, operating at 100 watts. FRENCH POLYNESIA, FO. During October, Haru JA1XGI will be TX9XG on the atoll of

Rangiroa, Tuamotu Archipelago, IOTA OC-066.

.TOKELAU, ZK3. During November, for 13 days, N7QT, K5GS, W1SRD, KE4KY, K3EL, WD5COV, WA7CPA, N9ADG, Jacky ZL3CW (F2CW), IK0FVC, HA0NAR, YL

Violetta KN2P and Jack N7JP, from the "Perseverance DX Group" (PDXG) or the "Western Washington DX Club" (WWDXC), will be on an expedition. Call not yet specified.

BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS, VP2V. During November, Bob will be VP2V/GU4YOX

and VP2VBB for the CQ WW DX CW Contest on the 28th/29th.

MOZAMBIQUE, C9. From November 10th to 19th, OK1BOA, OK1FCJ, OK1CRM, OK1GK,

OK2ZA, OK2ZC, OK2ZI, and OK6DJ will be C8K. QSL via OK6DJ, OQRS, and LoTW.

SOUTH SHETLAND, VP8 (South Shetland), KC4. In mid-November, Gil IZ2GMR (who is also K2GMR) plans a 9-day stay on King George Island, Antarctica, IOTA

AN-010. He will be K2GMR/MM from the ship and KC4/K2GMR once on the island. Equipment: Xiegu 90, Bioenno 6M Ah battery, and MC-750 vertical antenna. He will operate on the 40-10m bands and on approximately 14.243 kHz on 20m. He will provide further details in July. PALAU, T8. From November 25 to December 3, JH1OLB will be T88DT and will participate in the CQ WW DX CW Contest on November 28/29.

LUXEMBOURG, LX. On November 28/29, for the CQ WW DX CW Contest, Suad DK6XZ (who is also E77XZ) will be LX7I.

SOUTH SUDAN, Z8. Until mid-December, Diya YI1DZ is Z81D from Juba. He works for the World Food Programme. He will be active in his free time, mainly on weekends. QSL via OM3JW, OQRS.

BANGLADESH, S2. Sometime in November, the S21DX team will be active from Kutubdia Island, IOTA AS-127. This will be a return to this reference point, which was last activated in 2009 by an expedition with the same callsign. Other expeditions in 2021, 2022 and 2024 were

conducted from IOTA reference AS-140 and resulted in over 35,000 QSOs.

SOUTH SUDAN, Z8. Until mid-December, Diya YI1DZ is Z81D from Juba. He works for the World Food Programme. He will be active in his free time, mainly on weekends. QSL via OM3JW, OQRS.

ANDAMAN & NICOBAR, VU4. From December 17th to 30th, the DX India Foundation is organizing an international expedition with the call sign VU4R.

SOUTH GEORGIA, VP8. In March 2027, a team of 16 members from Europe and North America will travel there on an expedition: LA7THA, LB1QI (who is also F6JJX), LB5GI, W0ZB, F4HEC, G0VJG, G4PUM, IU2EFB, LA3BO, OE7PGI, OK2WX, UR8UQ, and UR5UY will be VP0SG. Three young people will also be part of the team: Yl Violetta KN2P (licensed since 2012, Violetta has strong skills, expertise in safety, and international experience; she is a flight instructor and also a member of the Tokelau expedition), Léon DL3ON, and Yl Megan EI5LA, 19 years old, from Cork, Ireland.

FRANCE, TM. In April 2027, members of the "PlusScouts PA3EFR/J" group will be

TM27OMAH at Omaha Beach, to support the "Normandie Camporee 2027".

MARSHALL ISLANDS, V7. Until 2027, Randall KX4QD is V73HW again on assignment

on Kwajalein Island, IOTA OC-028. QSL via KX4QD, Club Log, LoTW.

ANDAMAN & NICOBAR, VU4. From October 25, 2026 to November 7, 2027, W0ZB, K1LZ,

VE2DX, VU2RS, K1NZ, KB2FMH, K2SAV and N4VGE will be active from Andaman, IOTA

AS-001. 5 stations operating 24/7. They will activate 3 POTA references (IN-0003, IN-0005, IN-0007) and

participate in the CQ WW SSB DX 2027 contest. Call pending.

PIERRE I ISLAND, 3Y. During February 2027, a team of 19 operators will be 3Y0L. The Norwegian Polar Institute has granted landing authorization in April 2024. See https://3y0l.com

DOMINIQUE, J7. Until March 2027, Haluk TA2LE will frequently be J79H, sometimes

from POTA reference points, such as Morne, Trois Pitons, and Cabrits National Parks.

ANTARCTIC CRUISE. Early 2027, a 4-week sailing cruise,

not a DX expedition, but a cruise including amateur radio activities with various

stopovers, led by Mehdi F5PFP. Departure from Puerto Williams on Navarino Island, IOTA SA-050, Chile, followed by a planned stopover in the South Shetland Islands, IOTA AN-010. If sailing conditions permit, he will activate some bases there. Afterwards, sailing along

West Graham Land and other archipelagos, with possible stops at various islands,

bases, and refuges. Crossing the Drake Passage and Bransfield Straits, they will land "almost every day." A stopover in the South Shetland Islands is possible on the return from Antarctica,

and then again on the return to Chile. Mehdi indicates that radio communication should take place after their daily sailing,

mainly in the 40, 30, and 20-meter bands, between 10:00 PM and 3:00 AM UTC, using "old-school, freelance" modes of operation, "so no FT8 or other digital modes, no sponsors, no score targets, nothing to prove, just an adventure to experience."

KYRGYZSTAN, EX / TADJIKISTAN, EY. Until mid-2027, Yuri UA4LCQ is EX7CQ (EX9A in contest), in Bishkek. He is sometimes in Tajikistan as EY8DX (EY0A in contest). ANTARCTICA, KC4. Until the end of 2027, maybe until 2028, Yuri Kovalenko

UA1CCI is RI1ANY, stationed at the Russian station “Novolazarevskaya” (locator JB59vf).

NORFOLK ISLAND, VK9N. Dom VK2HJ is currently on Norfolk Island, where he travels regularly for work. When possible, he operates using the call sign VK9HJ. His setup is simple: a quarter-wave telescopic vertical antenna covering the 20-10 meter bands, with a power output of 100 watts. The duration of his stay is currently unknown.

UGANDA, 5X. John (originally from Texas) will soon be 5X/KF5NSR; he is awaiting a license and a 5X call sign. His QTH is at a high point near Lake Victoria, at an altitude of 1,200 meters. He uses a Buckmaster OCF 7-band wire antenna and an IC-703. Uganda is one of the world's lightning capitals, and Kampala records more lightning strikes than any other city in the world.

CENTRAL KIRIBATI, T31. The T31TTT expedition from Kanton Island, Phoenix Islands group, IOTA OC-043, has not announced an end date. 12 active stations.

ANGOLA, D2. Soon, Yl Isabel CR7BZL will be D2IM and Vasco will be D2ACE.

BONAIRE, PJ4. Soon, Fred K9VV will be PJ4WW and Yl Lisa W4LIS will be PJ4LIS.

TIMOR LESTE, 4W. Darren VK4MAP is 4W6DA from Atauro Island, IOTA OC-232.

KURE, KH7K / JOHNSTON, KH3 / MIDWAY, KH4. The Intrepid DX group is awaiting approval from the authorities to continue its project for these 3 expeditions. Midway Atoll remains closed to the public, as management is focusing on the conservation, safety, and preservation of the site. SINT MAARTEN, PJ7. David is PJ7/W1DIA from Fort Amsterdam.
