HAM radio 150 most wanted DXCC entities in 2026

Romeo Stepanenko, 3W3RR

Obviously, Romeo doesn't have access to radio equipment while he is in jail. However, to receive his jail-QSL, it's unnecessary to make on-air QSO with him. The numbered jail-card will be sent to anyone whose card Romeo receives by mail at his current jail's address: "If your QSL-card makes it through the jail's censorship, and arrives into my hands, this means that the jail-QSO has indeed taken place. Henceforth, you will find your callsign in the 3W3RR jail-pedition log linkext. Link as well as on twitter @RomanVega_com. Afterwards you will receive by snail mail a 3W3RR jail-pedition numbered QSL card. According to the jail's mail policies, a prisoner is only permitted to receive letters, postcards, photos and printouts. QSLs are considered postcards, and generally make it through. Do not send IRCs, postage stamps, green stamps or S.A.S.E., as all of these are considered contraband and immediately trashed (frequently along with the entire envelope's contents). Books and magazines mailed from private parties are not permitted. CDs and DVDs are also prohibited,."

Now it is FREE

January 2020: released!
From the York County Prison (PA) where he was held from November 2019, Romeo was escorted to the airplane jetway at JFK airport and on February 1, 2020 landed in Russia.

Pirate DX operators on 27 MHz (11 meter)

This is an old article. I think he can help you to understand why you can listen QSO in SSB on 11 meter 27415 to 27985. After 10 meter band 28 MHz is use by legal amateur radio operators.

DXing on 11 meter is very easy when the solar cycle is at its maximum of propagation. With 10 watts and only a vertical antenna you can contact for example, Australia or New Zealand!!!

When solar activity is low its hard to make DX contact or you must have good YAGI or quad antenna and some "whiskies"—an amplifier! The sporadic E propagation is open every year to make QSO at a maximum of 2000 kilometers.

You can find many second hand CB radio with SSB mode who are "open" to use 27415 to 27985 in Europe and North America. You need also a 12-volt power supply for CB radio, after the most important is the antenna. Its better to buy a new antenna, verticale antenna are not expensive. The 5/8 wave is the best for DX because have a low angle. The half-wave vertical is also good, size is 5,50 meter. The problem is to put your antenna on the roof of your house or in the garden on a mast. You can also make you half wave dipole antenna or bazooka antenna. The inverted V antenna is good because it is an omnidirectional antenna. after you have a directive antenna like a Quad, Yagi, etc., but it is more expensive and difficult to install for beginners. The ROS or TOS meter is important because if you aren't careful, you will destroy your CB radio because your antenna is not tuned to the frequency you are using. You don't need an amplifier or other gadgets. Cb radios of pirates have 12 to 20 watts. remember the antenna is the most important. Be careful to not go on 26 or 28 MHZ, these band are use by amateur radio or gouvernement. If you are a beginer listen before to understand what is a QSO, the Q code is used by pirates. QSO are very short and if you know to speak in english 5 or 6 sentences to give your first name, your CB call sign and your QTH, say hello, thank you for the QSO, etc. Many pirates dont speak english but are able to make a QSO and ask for a QSL card. If you speak English, you can make longer contacts and talk of many things. If you were an SWL of amateur radio bands, it would be realy easy to understand QSO on 11 meter. So be carefull, its not legal and in some countries you can go to prison and pay a large fine. Some countries can fink you are a spy and you will see these "democratic republics" have the worst prisons !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there is a club for listeners of the 11 meter DX. https://form.jotform.com/230482511885054  Its better because it's safer to be an SWL.

QRP + qrp ANTENNA

Il you have a radio receiver with SSB (single side band) on 11 meter you can listen some peoples who make contacts together

This is not amateur radio operators who are on 28 MHz (10 meter) This radio operators are pirates ! Since the 70s and maybe early in the USA a lot of people use these frequencies to make DX contacts ( long distance contacts ) together and exchange QSL cards. Many start with this are pass the exam to be ham radio operators and have more bands and be legal. I some place of the world to be a pirate on 27 MHz is very dangerous. In Europe and North America its not legal but if you don't make problems with neighbors, that it does not interfere with official installations there is often no problem even if this is prohibited and these operators risk fines. I do its in the 80s an 90s when i was in Paris and member of the famous Alfa Tango group. My TX was a President Jackson and my antenna was on the roof of a 6 level house. The vertical antenna 5/8 wave was good for DXing especially when solar activity is high. To help me i had an amplifier with valves who can send 100 or 200 "whiskies !" Because my coaxial cable was very long it's better to have more power. The best in to have a directive antenna but in Paris its hard to have this kind of antenna. I confirm by paper QSL cards more of 100 DXCC. A friend with same equipment confirmed 200 DXCC and its not rare some pirate confirmed 250 or 300 DXCC. If you are not in a big city and have a garden you can make you own antenna with electrician cable. Inverted V dipole antena ( half wave i only .50 meter long ), Bazooka with coaxial cable, etc. For the TX a old CB radio with more of 40 channel and who can work in SSB can be found for only 80 US Dollars. You need to have old car batteries to have energies for the TX ( 12 volts) So if you just buy some coaxial cable, electrician wire, isolators for only 130 US $ you can try to work your first DX or be catch bey FCC if you are in USA!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont know the the amount of the fine...

In general these pirates make short contact, its look like Ham radio QSO. Many don't speak good English and know only few things like my name is Frank, my QTH is Paris, etc.

They have Post office box or give address of the DX group. Now in 2024 they exchange E-QSL card via internet. So they just give a special email addresses.  The QSO dont talk of politics etc. They love DX and dont try to make problems. Some use amateur radio equipment and big 1 KW amplifiers. They also use mono band antenna for 11 meter. As a SWL you can listen 27555 kHz in USB this is the calling frequencies and if you listen a QSO you can send a reception report. Just explain you was a SWL. Give the " call sign " of the 2 operators in QSO together. A " green stamp" will be welcome !!!

The " call sign " are like 14 for France, 2 for USA, etc

They are contest, DX expeditions, awards etc.

So good listening of DX...
